In 2021, 81% of small and medium enterprises operate social media accounts. Brands have increasingly reached out to audiences on these sites depending on the communication, business field, or product.
Social media continues to inform buyers on their purchase decisions, appealing especially to the younger age groups.
As it stands, 71% of small and medium-sized businesses market their products or services on social media. Out of this number, 52% will create a marketing post at least once a day.
Social media advertisers spent $40.34 billion in the United States in 2020
In the US alone, social media marketers spent $40.34 billion on sponsored advertisements.
Global ad spending had been projected to rise by 10.1% Year on Year for this year, spurred by an 18% growth on social media.
For Q1, 2021, there was a 5% growth in America’s ad-spend on social networks.

As of August 2020, 62% of Fortune 500 CEOs were on at least one social media site, with some using their names in their profiles.
While an overwhelming majority are still on LinkedIn with 94%. Twitter has garnered 26.5%, and Instagram attracted 17 executives making that 3.4% of the total.
71% of Americans get news on social media platforms
As of January 2021, 71% of US adults were getting their news content on social media platforms.

There are currently three other countries that have banned the app including Bangladesh, Indonesia, and China.
The ban in India was a result of the ban of other Chinese apps which the government thought was used to spy on its sovereignty.
Bangladesh, Indonesia, and Pakistan all banned the app on various grounds, including the promotion of ‘indecency’ and cyberbullying. Douyin, which is the Chinese version of TikTok, is the only permitted version in mainland China, meaning the global version of TikTok isn’t available within the country.

The average time spent on TikTok is 52 minutes per day, with each session lasting about 10.85 minutes. With at least 9 in 10 TikTok users opening the app daily, you can be sure that this remains one of the top social media platforms in the world.

Although it is still a new entrant in the social media industry, TikTok made a whopping $1 billion in revenue in 2020.
